About us
'Reared to be feared'
Apedroc Stud is a boutique thoroughbred stud farm in the heart of rural Sussex. The property is set in over 100 acres of paddocks and ancient woodland, complemented by a full suite of modern equestrian facilities. Our approach is to focus on a small number of elite mares and premier flat stallions
The stud benefits from carefully maintained, high-quality, pasture. We conduct rotational grazing and cross-grazing with our flock of Hebridean sheep to maximise parasite control. The undulating terrain provides excellent strengthening and conditioning for young race horses.
We work with high quality veterinary, nutritional, farriery and Bloodstock professionals, with expertise specific to the racing industry. We bring longstanding backgrounds in equestrianism across racing, polo and cross country, together with successful international commercial credentials.
Who we are
Apedroc Stud is owned by Neil and Clare Goldie-Scot who founded it following their wedding in 2015, an event at Goodwood House where the best man was their first racehorse, Secret Missile.
Neil enjoyed a successful career as a leading international investment banker. He turned his hand to breeding racehorses following several years as an unconventional polo player and racehorse owner. He was formerly the Treasurer of national charity Riding for the Disabled, and is now a Conservator of the Ashdown Forest.
Clare had a colourful international career as a CEO and a marketeer featuring, on the boards of a diverse selection of businesses ranging from RSA plc to ITV. Her final executive role was as the CEO of the British Equestrian Federation, where she was in charge of the British equestrian teams at the Rio Olympics and Paralympics.

Boarding and spelling
We are happy to board thoroughbred bloodstock in limited numbers, from like-minded racing enthusiasts.
We can care for your mare through the foaling process, with expert veterinary support close at hand. We are happy to take horses needing a break from racing subject to capacity.
Staying at Apedroc, The Studio
Apedroc is an Anglo-Saxon manor house, dating from before the Norman Conquest, with a colourful past ever since.
The converted recording Studio in the grounds was once host to Pink Floyd and provides the perfect base for exploring the Ashdown Forest, home of Winnie the Pooh. Up to four guests can stay when the Studio is not in use for our grooms.
