Our broodmares

We have seven broodmares from elite families at Apedroc presently. We focus on selecting premium flat mares who are either black-type in their own right, siblings to black-type, or have black-type dams.

We work with international bloodstock agents to select the correct broodmares for Apedroc and the most appropriate coverings for the mares. We make a careful study of the form of the mare and her family, to ensure we are breeding foals with a trip and career in mind. As a small Stud, we have a good sense of the temperament of each of our mares, and this can also be useful to judge the fit with specific stallions.
